How does EYH use their full-time Registered Behavior Technician?
We have a RBT that works with each youth individually and in groups for 40 hours per week.
The RBT works with clients in the RTC in small groups to implement behavior modification plans and strategies created by the Treatment Director. These interventions involve teaching new skills, reducing problem behaviors, and reinforcing positive behaviors.
The RBT spends time observing client behavior and recording their responses to stimuli. This data is valuable for the Treatment Director to use in creating mitigation.
RBT collects data during sessions to track progress, consult with the TD about changes in behaviors and progress for treatment plans as needed, and implement individualized treatment protocols to help them acquire skills or reduce undesirable behaviors.
The RBT will conduct small group activities to help RTC youths develop coping skills, collect data, conduct interviews, and use other assessment tools.
This information allows the TD to identify the functions of challenging behaviors and develop effective treatment plans. RBTs collaborate with other professionals and work with other treatment team members, the Treatment Director, QMHPs, and the therapists. Other duties include modeling appropriate behaviors, reviewing coping and de-escalating strategies with youth, completing weekly data reports, maintaining a clear line of communication with TD and all staff, and weekly check-ins with TD (zoom, telephone, or in-person).
Included in Care:
1 individual session per week
Additional RBT sessions:
1 youth:1 RBT $90/day for two hours
2 youth:1 RBT $60/day for two hours
Depending on the severity of the behavior, EYH may recommend a 1:1 RBT intervention.
